Esma Redzepova was born near Skopje, Macedonia in 1943 Larger than life in real life, the Queen of the Gypsies’ (a title bestowed in India, in 1976) has travelled more than three million kilometres and has twice been nominated for a Nobel Prize. She’s still an arresting singer.
